Electrical Equipment That Can Be Useful in a Disaster

Here we explain how to use electrical equipment that may be useful in emergency situations such as when electricity or water stops suddenly.

Electric water heater (EcoCute)

Because water is stored in the tank of electrical water heaters, this may be used for domestic water when the water supply has been cut. For example, a 370-liter hot water storage tank can supply water for a family of four for three days.

* Specifications will differ, depending on the manufacturer and model. Refer to the documentation of the appliance.

Solar power generation system

Many commercial solar power generation systems have an autonomous operation mode which will allow electricity to be used also in case of a power outage. This will normally require a user to switch over the system manually. Also, it has restrictions such as limit of storage capacity, decrease of generated power depending on the weather, etc.

Electric vehicle (EV)

The electric power stored in the main battery pack of electric vehicles can be used as a backup power supply in emergencies.
