Preparations to Make in Case the Power Supply/Demand Condition Does Not Improve
The policy adopted at the 5th National Council on Electricity and Gas Basic Policy Subcommittee Meeting (held on October 24, 2017) is as follows. It is important to prepare for sudden events such as an earthquake disaster during normal times, and it is important to reconfirm and consider the concept of planned power outages in case of a large-scale power loss due to an earthquake or other disaster.
In accordance with this policy, the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO) together with 10 general power transmission and distribution operators including Kansai Transmission and Distribution began work on establishing a common concept for planned power outages to be implemented as necessary in case of emergencies.
Information about this concept can be found in the document at the following link.
